Torn between 4 and 5. I loved the getting-back-to-the-island vs ones-left-behind-falling-through-time stuff of the first half of S5, and thought the 1977 Island vs 2007 Island of the second half was great fun. S5 was a brilliant series that really whizzed along and felt much shorter than it actually was. Plus it had Ben in his BAMF Leather Jacket (although it also had the Jeard).

Season 4 was amazing, though. An action packed Island storyline and unpredictable flash-forwards and backs that left you reeling. Introduced some great characters, killed off some great characters and had a big, exciting, explosive, emotional finale. And all in only half the amount of episodes that a Lost season usually got. I'm going to pick S4 because it got so much done in so little time. Very economical, very slick, and upped the pace for the last two seasons. Quality.
