Ah, how Old School was last night?!?
Looks like the students are back, so Simples was very very full. Ended up right at the back of the garden (which was the fullest I think I've ever seen it - I think they've put more tables in) sitting on the wall drinking Merrydown (evil, EVIL cider!) and talking cock. Actually, most of the time we were talking Fanny. Pooroll's love life is so complicated! I could never be a lesbian - women are all insane. Then back rather early... Hubby was feeling ill... wrote some recepies (why?), ate some toast, then played the Sims for about 4 hours! Just like the old days, only back then it would have been Tomb Raider 2 or Discworld Noir until gone 3am (do you know a woman named Carlotta?) Seriously, I totally lost track of time. Must stop this whole Go To Bed Late Get Up Late weekend thing.
Braved town to buy some Autumn clothes (guess who just got paid?). Oh I do love H&M so, and Dotty P had some good stuff too. Now proud owner of 5 new tops, including a pretty shiny going out top for next weekend, and I am experimenting with green, since it appears to suit me and goes with my brown trousers/skirt.
I am a very Top Heavy shopper. I have a ridiculous amount of tshirts, tops, jumpers, etc, but the 'bottoms' in my possession that I ever wear consist entirely of:
Work Trousers - 2 pairs - one black, one brown (which I love, even though they keep breaking... I keep intending to buy a new pair of non-broken brown work trousers but I don't have the heart. I end up stitching them back up. A lot.)
Cords - 2 pairs - again, one black, one brown. Both ridiuculously comfy.
Skirts - 3 - one black, knee length, suitable for work or going out, one denim, also knee length, one brown, sequinned gypsy skirt, bought on a whim (as you can tell, I really don't to frivolous Bottoms) but currently my favourite. Also good for work.
Cropped summer trousers - 2 pairs, one beige, one navy. rarely worn, and as soon as August ends they go to the back of the wardrobe until next May.
Jogging bottoms - 1 pair, purely for the gym. I got them about 4 years ago.
Jeans - 1 pair, cropped. This is the first set of jeans I've bought in about 10 years. I really don't Do them. But I needed more summery trousers for my honeymoon and these were all stretchy and, by gum, they turned out to be great! And, thanks to Ugg boots (love 'em!) I can wear them in the winter without my ankles getting cold.
And that's it. Very few, mostly very old and all (bar the gypsy skirt) terribly boring. I just find no pleasure in buying new Bottoms. I'm on the... er... 'Voluptous' side, anyway, and have always had very wide hips whatever my size. And I refuse to buy anything over a size 18, because then I'm officially Outsize and might as well just order a marquee to wear as well as a couple of walking sticks to help me shift my massive, hulking frame down the pub for a big fat pie with a side order of chocolate cake and chips. Children would laugh and point as I passed. Honest, guv.
Also noticed how, when there was only one cashpoint working at Natwest and thus just one, long queue for the working one, several people went to the non-worky one, ignoring both the irregular queueing and the tell tale 'This cashpoint is currently out of order' sign and still tried to get money out of it. Why did they think we were all lining up for the other one, eh? Stupidity? Need to conform? Lack of anything else to do on a Saturday afternoon? *sigh* some people....
Am feeling strangesly morose today. Also my mobile's reception has had no reception all day for absolutely no reason. Hmmm...
Off to join the obese, chavved-up masses in Asda's in a bit. *shudder* Off to see Howl's Moving Castle tomorrow though :)
