A few icons
Feb. 3rd, 2011 06:26 pmImages from Sherlock, with Beauty & the Beast quotes. Despite having been on LJ for approximately one million years, I still haven't worked out how to use those nifty icon tables, but there's not enough to warrant them here really, so they're just in a line. Attractive. Snag away, if you wish.
( but behind that fair facade, I'm afraid he's rather odd... )

Simple but highly effective. S1 of Black Books is pretty much Sitcom Heaven as far as I'm concerned - and full of Quotable Quotes ('I've swallowed the Little Book Of Calm!') but this is one of my favourites, for the sheer nuttiness factor. One of my laziest icons - just a favourite quote on a block colour background - no frills.

Done by the Forever Fab Missy C, this is one of an Emo!Colin batch, and a very pretty one too. Depressed Colin is a rare and vulnerable thing, and terribly nice looking. From the ultimate ColAngst episode 'Something Terrible Part 2', the boy broods on the School Stairs with his 90s Curtains, horrible shirt and sovvies. *sigh*. The way Miss C has made this icon makes it look like he's being plagued by a flying Rubik's cube!

Can't remember off the top of my head who made this one - I'd have to check on my Userpics page. But I was delighted to have discovered some Big Train icons, not to mention, animated ones. 'Evil Hypnotist' is a great sketch, almost exclusively because of The Actor Kevin Eldon's typically manic performance... although Mark Heap's spinny bow-tie made me laugh a lot too. This icon's good for when I'm Scheming.

Another really simple one from a slice of Sitcom Heaven - the 'My Lovely Horse' dream sequence from Father Ted. Just took a cap off Youtube, cropped it and badabing - an iconic image of culty weirdness. 'It was a Spiderbaby, Ted!'

Argh! Again, can't recall off the top of my head who made this one, but I'm sure it would be from the
dr_beckett community. Al was always my favourite on Quantum Leap - I loved that cigar chomping, tree-hugging, womanising hologram big time. This icon's good for when I'm stressing out. I use it rather a lot.

I found myself in possession of a collection of penguin pictures (I was making icons for
seal_girl at the time) so I decided to make one into an icon celebrating one of my fave H2G2 quotes ever. Simon Jones' delivery of the line in the radio version (the definitive medium, as far as I'm concerned) is just perfect, and it's a great response to general weirdness. Bit of a lazy icon in itself, but there you go.

HOW MANY ICONS DO YOU HAVE: 110
OUT OF HOW MANY AVAILABLE ICONS SPACES:112
IF YOU COULD BUY SPACE FOR MORE, WOULD YOU: I think just over a hundred is plenty now, ta!
DO YOUR ICONS MAKE A STATEMENT: Erm... well, they show my main fandoms, favourite characters and some of my favourite quotes, but political statements... nope.
WHAT FANDOM DO YOU HAVE THE MOST ICONS OF: *counts* - D&DC have 17, Press Gang/Paul Reynolds have 18 combined, TNG have 8. So, Press Gang if you count the other random La Reynolds ones with them, D&DC if you don't.
AND THE SECOND MOST: See above.
WHAT SHIP DO YOU HAVE THE MOST ICONS OF: Eric/Diana.
ARE YOUR ICONS MADE MOSTLY BY OTHER PEOPLE: No, but most of the good ones are!
DO YOU MAKE ICONS: Yes.
ARE THEY ANY GOOD: So-so. They tend to be more funny than actually pretty.
ANIMATED ICONS ARE: Brilliant, and too difficult for me to attempt!

Yeah, I should be doing other stuff, but instead I've just wasted ages on this pretty meme. Also, I keep getting distracted by Rollercoaster, when really Family Reunion needs more love right now. But I think they're probably going to have hot amnesiac holodeck Robosex very soon, and it's all rather exciting.
Mainly for
mrs_picard, or any of you hankering after some Vampire themed 80s Retro action... 4 icons of Count Duckula's Igor. Enjoy.

...and now an icon Meme...

Look at your LJ userpics list. If you have fewer than twenty icons, post them all. If you have between twenty and fifty icons, pick every fifth one. If you have between fifty and seventy-five icons, pick every seventh one. If you have over seventy-five icons, pick every tenth one. List them on your LJ, and tell everyone exactly why you have it, why it's interesting to you, and what significance it has.

Sep. 29th, 2008 11:54 pmI should be in bed but instead I've been making icons of Lore. Mostly with H2G2 Marvin quotes, because they suit him.
( League Of Evil Robots... AWAAAAAYYYYY! ) "Loresome" is now my new favourite word.

Sep. 17th, 2008 11:35 pmDone a few icons from lovely photos I found of the TNG cast larking about behind the scenes circa S1. Mainly Marina Sirtis - she's a monkey, isn't she?

Hollow pursuits and cheerful 80s bigotry
Sep. 14th, 2008 11:15 pmJust watched Hollow Pursuits. It. Was. Awesome. Another one to add to my rapidly growing list of favourites. Done some icons. Unfortunately I wasn't able to do one that did justice to Picard's 'Good work, Lt. Broccoli' face, which is a pity since that scene very nearly caused me to spit muesli all over the carpet.

Pink! Pink! Sit! Pink!
Sep. 11th, 2008 09:05 pmToday we went to Bluewater and we bought...
A cool hologram purse to replace my old one that's dying
Two new woolly jumpers, a new sleeping bag and a pair of woolly tights for Vi
An Upsy Daisy Anorak for Vi
A pair of trews for me
A Comedy TShirt each for me and Hubs from David & Goliath
Civ IV for Hubs' new Mac (yes, that's right - we now live in a Two Mac Household. And we eat muesli. We are such ponces.)
A new buggy for Vi because her old one is dying. This one is a very small, light cheapo toddler's one and bright pink! It looks like something little girls walk their dollies around in, and Vi loves it. She keeps climbing in it, and has learned to say 'Pink' today in approval.
We did well, and we were home in time for lunch.
Just done four Data icons, for shits & giggles. Snag if you wish. ( here they are )

Silly Icons
Aug. 21st, 2008 10:47 pmOooh, but I'm posting a lot today, innit?
I just watched the TNG episode 'Contagion', which is at least 17 different flavours of awesome, and may well be my new favourite episode. Basically, they wind up on Magrathea, only instead of missiles that turn into a pot of gereaniums and a highly surprised looking sperm whale they're attacked with a computer virus that turns tea into cactus and flings Geordi around a lift, and instead of a workshop in which to rebuild Earth there is a Freaky Door which seems to lead to some Greek ruins. Data put his hand into the Freaky Greeky Door, and I really wanted him to be holding a kebab when he brought it out again, but no. The best bit of all, though...? They fix the ship by turning it off and on again! I could have told them that!
Anyhoo, this episode was choc full of comedy, so here's some icons. ( Not!Tea, Fizzy Lifting Juice and the great Broken Robot Giveaway )

Icons meme redux
Apr. 24th, 2008 10:38 pmThis time tis Bibsy's choice...

A new PG icon, of my own making. Taken from the extreme closeups (EXTREME CLOSEUP! WOOOOAAAAAAHHHH!) during the chopsticks battle in A Night In, I did icons of Spike and Lynda's eyes, then branched out to the eyes of the other core cast. The Lynda one is my favourite, though. It's such an intense, furious gaze - so very Lynda.

This was the shot I used for the Colin eye icon (or should that be eyecon? Hmm) I wanted to personalise it a little for myself though - it's such a good moment of Angsty!Col... he does look purdy when he's sad. The text is from his speech to Cindy in Something Terrible, in which the full extent of his low self image (and, in my opinion, his Depression) reveals itself, and does relate back to the Pink Bunny Incident as well. ColAngst is a fine, fine thing.

TNG Caps + Futurama Quotes = Instant hilarity! They work together so very well. There's an LJ Community that posts BSG Caps with (usually) Futurama captions and, if it didn't mean nicking their idea wholesale I would so do that for TNG too, since it's just so interchangable. 'Being a robot's neat and all, but we don't feel emotions, and sometimes that makes me sad.' See what I mean? Anyway, the cap is of Riker's 'ohshitohshitohshit' face as the pretty half of the Enterprise D makes a fabulous swansong crashing into a planet, the quote is Zapp Brannigans, as he, um, crashes a ship into a planet. Although, technically, that ship was a restaurant. Zapp and Riker are pretty interchangeable because they're both Kirk clones.

My lovely horse! Running through the fields! Where are you going, with your fetlocks blowing in the wind? The Pop Video dream sequence is one of the finest moments of Father Ted, so i had to get an icon. The image was taken off the youtubes though, so that quality's not good. This is just a nice, random icon.

Again, the image is off youtube, so not brilliant, but I had to have a Daphne/Niles icon, since it's one of my favourite ships. Oh, the yearning! Yay, the happy ending! I played around with an airbrush on this one, drawing hearts around them. Because Jane Leeves is so tall, their heads make a little heart shape whenever they kiss, which I think is adorable.

I think I went trawling for Big Train icons ages ago and found this bad boy as well as 'Evil Hypnotist' by
glittersprite. Tis The Peggster, dressed as one of the Gibb Brothers, in a shootout with Chakka Khan. She has just spent about two minutes repeatedly shooting No-Beard-BeeGee (The Actor Kevin Eldon) with Pegg cries 'NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!' in slow motion. It is a fabulous sketch.

From my favourite New Who episode, and really the only Who Ship I have really got on board. I loved Jess as Joan, and I actually prefer John Smith to the Doctor. I like that he's a completely different personality (and used that premise a bit in Nothing But Blue Sky) and find him more heroic, for giving up peace, love and a simple life, which was all that he really wanted. This was a lovely scene.

Bobby Harron. Long dead silent cinema Uber-crumpet. Shot his beautiful self when comedy racist DW Griffith stopped giving him parts. I love this picture. It's so moody. That's Lillian Gish with him.

From H2G2. Without a doubt the most sensible reason not to kill somebody who has a hangover that I have ever heard.

Even I can't take La Reynolds' Sex Symbol role seriously in the vast majority of Pussycat (it's the medallion! And Sex Symbols don't usually get changed in toilet cubicles that are still full of piss.) but this shot...? Hummanahummanahummanahummana...
I have some new PG icons too! *pointy* Yum.

Third the man with the hairy chest!
Apr. 8th, 2008 10:16 pmWoo! Another third place ranking in the
neutral_zone icon contest. I'm number three! I'm number three!

Mum and Sis have been down. We all drank far too much and watched Ghostwatch last night. It scared the bejesus out of them.
And Madam has a rash. Took her for her first bus trip today to the doctor's to get it checked out. Calamine lotion smells disgusting, we've pretty much had to slather it all over the little mite.

So I got milk in my handbag today - about 50ml of the stuff. Yuck. Still need to give it a proper clean. Stupid selectively leaking beakers! It was fine on the way up to Sing & Sign, on the way back - oblivion. Luckily, Vi had drank most of the milk by then, but still. Milk bag.
I'm quite excited though, because I submitted a couple of icons for
neutral_zone's latest challenge (the prompt was the 'All the world's a stage' speech from As You Like It) and came joint third with this bad boy -
So hooray for me!
Staying with everybody's favourite French Slaphead and his chums, here is the penultimate chapter of 'Nothing But Blue Sky'. It's still a little raw - needs some editing, but I'm quite pleased with it so far.
