I couldn't sleep last night, so now I feel even worse.

Just completely ballsed up on the phone to a customer.

I should be working right now.

But I aint.

I wrote this for The Magnum Opus last night, though, which is quite pretty:

O sleep my babe, my lamb, my dove,
And wrap thyself in my warm love,
Sleep, child, while I watch over thee
But trouble not with dreams of me.

O sleep now all the suns are spent,
Sleep well, my little innocent,
But let thy happy dreams be free
From those as dark and damned as me.

Have placed a 9pm pooting curfew upon meself in the hope of better kip thenicht, so no time to scribble.

Hubs just really cheered me up. We have been lying in bed doing Res Dennis (don't ask) and my 'David Bowie does impressions' Impression - David Bowie as Victor Meldrew's quite good fun. Also fun - The Emporer Palpatine and Darth Vader as played by Old Man Steptoe and Tommy Cooper respectively. Hooray for hubs. Good for laughs and hugs.

And I closed the Cow & Gate sale today. 4 grand. Come on!

So then - Christmas Plans, eh?
Everyone has their traditions, lets hear yours.

CHRISTMAS WILL BE SPENT AT - My flat in Canters

WITH - Hubby

ON CHRISTMAS EVE BEFORE I GO TO BED I SHALL - Watch a Christmassy movie on TV or DVD, and probably Blackadder's Christmas Carol as well, take the chicken out to defrost then put prezzies under the tree and Hubby & me will stuff each others' stockings (not a euphamism!)

I EXPECT TO AWAKE ON CHRISTMAS MORN AT - about 11.

AND THE FIRST THING I WILL DO WILL BE - stuff the chicken and put it on to roast.

AND THEN I'LL - have a shower, get dressed, make some coffee, then open prezzies with Hubs (ah, the joys of being so far childless!) Then put the trimmings and potatoes on, then phone Mummy & Sis, then play with new toys or go for a walk.

CHRISTMAS DINNER WILL BE - Chicken dinner with trimmings, cooked by yrs trly. Hubby does the washing up.

AFTER WHICH I SHALL - start getting drunk, watch more movies, play with toys, scoff choccies.

IN THE WEEK BETWEEN CHRISTMAS AND NEW YEAR I WILL BE - Going for a lot of walks (we start getting Cabin Fever after a while), visiting the InLaws for a Third Christmas Dinner (1st is with Mummy and her BF this weekend!), attempting to plan my birthday party, greeting Ian.

FOR NEW YEARS EVE I WILL - Be going to Flo's with Hubby & Ian for some Teutonic New Year Festivities. Yay!

  1. acting:
I've been into acting ever since I was a little girl - my mum mentionned it in her speech at my wedding. I think my first ever part was a poppy in The Wizard of Oz at school. My latest part was Fabian in 12th Night at the Gulbenkian in Canterbury. I was in the Dramatics society at Uni, wich took up a lot of my free time back then, and most of my uni mates (husband included) were through that society. Favourite roles include Nanny Ogg in Maskerade, Number 8 in 12 Angry Men and 'Sir Spicious' (a suspiciously feminine Knight) in a medieval Murder Mystery.
  2. blackadder:
Edmund Blackadder rocks my world, as do Lord Melchett, George, Lord Percy Percy, Kevin Darling, Queenie and one S. Baldrick. A genius, genius show. So many brilliant lines (my fave - 'They're firing, Sir, they're firing!), such a fantastic cast, so much darkness, and one of the saddest, most touching endings I've ever seen.
  3. dungeons and dragons cartoon:
You all know how much I love D&DC. I only got into it about 18 months ago, and I've written reams and reams of fanfic since. The fact that I know little about D&D outside the toon is of little consequence to me. It's all about the character interaction.
(plus I love Eric with all my girlish might)
  4. father ted:
Ah, another great British Black Comedy. Wonderfully grim, beautifully surreal. I love Father Jack's filthy armchair.

    Drink! Feck! Arse! Girls!
  5. hitchikers guide:
The radio series is the first medium I knew and thus my favourite - some kind soul donated the entire series taped of the wireless, and I listened to it over and over and over again. I know practically all of it by heart now. Marvin rocks.
  6. pubs:
Drink + Socialising = Pubs. Yay! The best ones in Canterbury are Simple Simons, The Canterbury Tales and The White Hart. Simple Simons has live jazz and an atmosphere so thick you have to spoon your way through.
  7. shakespeare:
The Bard owns. Anybody who says he doesn't is just trying to be trendy and shocking and thus should be shot.

12th Night and Much Ado are the best.

I want to play Hermione, Olivia and Hero.
  8. surrealism:
Fish, elephants, peanuts, elephants and jam.

Makes standup funnier, makes sitcoms better, makes paintings wonderful. Injected thickly into my own plays and fic, and a big inspiration to me from The Goons to Bill Bailey.
  9. the goodies:
    Goody! Goody Goody Yum Yum!

Hubs introduced me to this, and I love it! Already knew the three Goodies from Bill Oddie's various screen forays and Tim & Graeme on the marvellous ISIHAC. I've only ever seen the few (10 or so) that the BBC have released on video/DVD, which is a travesty. BRING THEM BACK!

Dr Garden is a Sex God.
  10. theatre:
See acting. I'm narcissistic enough to admit that I prefer being on the stage than in front of it, but I do like the odd trip out, especially since nowadays I usually manage to get in for free!
