Jan. 30th, 2006 12:41 pmRight. I've calmed down a little, now. That was great fun last night, though, and since that was my first time on Finalcut, I was learning as I went. Go me!
Found R3 instead of Classic FM today. Much better. No twee wittering, no lame adverts for Mail Reading Scum who think the concept of a tot playing at Board Meetings is cute, no Supermarket Classical. Lots of really weird shit instead, which is great. Listening to a show about Shostakovich right now - gotta love those early 20thC Russians.
So - I did get up to other stuff this weekend aside from editing clips of Mon Capitan falling over in time to 60's FolkPop. Bought my Bafta Frock for one - Tis black and schlinky, cowl neck and, thank the lord, I can wear a bra with it. It's down to the floor (so my Treadmill induced knee scab won't show!) and really prettily cut, shows off the big bum & boobs in a good way. Cost a(nother) packet, but now I have an Evening Dress, which is always useful to have. Also - a big 'Whoop' to Baby Sis, who got her first Proper teaching job. Tis in Bloody Swindon, which is an hour's drive, but it's better than Supply work. *sigh*. Who'd be a teacher, eh? Oh wait... about half of you.
Programme on this week about Breastfeeding that C4 are trailering a lot. Obviously, they're showing the extremes in the argument, from Slash-Faced Chav men grunting 'it shouldun' be allahed' to demented mums breastfeeding 7 year olds (EEEWWWWWWW!!!!) Now I'm all for breastfeeding, I think the only reason people don't like seeing it is that boobs have become over sexualised in this wonderful phallogocentric world - if there's a purpose for something to please men, that most become its primary function - and so when we see a sexualised object (the breast) in connection with a baby, people see it as somehow perverted, which is ridiculous. HOWEVER - we're not supposed to live off our mothers' milk all our lives! That's what solids are for, people. I don't get what women who suckle older kids think they're trying to acheive, besides creating a lot of work for therapists in 15 years time...
And now, my twopence said, I shall be off.
