Adventures on the M4
Apr. 17th, 2006 06:01 pmShan't bore you with long, tedious details of my long weekend away, so here are the highlights:
FRIDAY:
Weather was minging in Canters but beautiful in Bristow/Cardiff.
DaisyMoo the guinea pig is still a spaz.
There is nowhere to park in Cardiff, even though it's lovely.
We ended up right at the front in Jongleurs but didn't get picked on by any of the acts. The first act was terrible. The second was OK, but a very poor immitation of Bill Bailey. The compere and last act were hilarious. Soft drinks were a rip-off - £3.20 for a pint of coke!
Adam's friend's girlfriend had her bra showing all night, but none of us knew her well enough to mention it.
SATURDAY:
Ad's little girl is too adorable. It's a crying shame that he doesn't get to see her more.
My Shake-King milkshake for this visit was LEMON CURD! Mmmmm!
We meant to go swimming but were too lazy again. We also meant to go out for dinner but were also too lazy. We had a takeaway pizza over Dr Who and didn't go out til 9.
We walked over Clifon Suspension Bridge in the dark. They've just re-done the lights and it looks really pretty - like a spider's web. Then we went to a Cider pub, but it was really really chocca so we left after one drink. We felt old.
Oldness continued when we spent the rest of the night drinking and playing Trivial Pursuit. I came a very close 2nd.
SUNDAY:
I checked my phone only to find it was broken.
We were really late to Mum's. Dinner was the best, and we spent the rest of the day feeling really full. Gramps was there, but prompty fell asleep. Husband told him an inappropriate joke.
Told Mum about my phone and she had a spare handset that Grampy got and can't use! Result!
Was also late to Cousin Louise's new gaffe. More food, more booze, Takeshi's Castle and Gladiators on Challenge TV, Cranium, which I'm really good at, and Sis' Singing Game, which is fun.
Everybody had Gas.
Ad is a really scarey driver.
I didn't feel well last night.
MONDAY:
I also didn't feel well this morning, but Sis made me scrambled egg on toast, which made me feel much better.
One of my favourite Quantum Leap Episodes was on but I missed most of it.
My plan not to try to second guess the traffic worked - we left just before 2 and made it back in record time.
There was loads of roadkill all over the roads today. It made me sad.
I got my badges! Hooray!
Hope you all had a good Easter Weekend too.
