I'm getting Political again, folks.
May. 12th, 2006 08:02 pmSo I've got a heap of new icons just by letting people stick ads on my LJ! Hee! I love ignoring adverts, I do it all the time.
Also, I'm annoyed that the Bill for assisted suicide has been blocked at the House of Lords, and very disappointed in Dr Rowan for barging in with his Bishy Mates on the debate. I thought Dr Rowan was a bit of a dude, but he seems to be confusing the issue big time. Surely the issue isn't just to kill off disabled people because their lives have been deemed 'Not Worth Living'. The issue is that if there's the choice between somebody dying slowly and painfully or quickly and painlessly, and the person in question chooses the latter but isn't in the physical position to do so they should be helped without fear of recriminations.
When a dog is dying, in pain, it is put to sleep in the arms of its beloved owners. When a human being is dying, in pain, s/he is either left to it or - get this - allowed to dehydrate to death, which is a horrible way to die over several days. How the FUCK is that fair? What deity could that possibly please?
I wouldn't mind quite so much if all these Bishies were, now that they've got their merry way, going to actually do something to help those people that have had their right to end their lives painlessly taken away. Like I wouldn't mind the Anti-Abortion mob quite so much if they gave a decent amount of time or money to helping young, raped or unprepared mothers who are carrying or have given birth to unwanted babies, or the children themselves. But it never seems to go that way, does it?
Barge in, use your influence to take the right to make important life choices away from people who you don't even know, because you know best, godammit, and then fuck off out of it again.
Yep. Because your beliefs are more important than other peoples' wellbeing, yes siree.
