*FANGIRL MOMENT*
Oct. 6th, 2006 11:57 amI don't usually do this but I'm afraid I'm going to have to Squee -
You see, I HUGGED MY DOCTOR LAST NIGHT!
Having driven down to Brighton in the pouring rain and managed to find the most expensive car park in the whole world ever we marched in more rain and a sea-fresh gale that could only be described as 'bracing' in order to find the theatre - there were signs up saying the show had been cancelled the night before, which worried me, but no - the show was great... if anybody watched the Goodies Reunion on BBC 2 at New Year, it was much like that - anecdotes, clips etc. Billikins was present through the medium of multimedia - he had recorded a few pieces previously which interacted with what was on stage. He was also, at one point, represented in hand puppet form, being worked my Dr G. They did play a very funny clip from At Last The 1948 Show, which I think I'm going to have to get. The turnout was distressingly low - the theatre can't have been 1/2 full, but it *was* appalingly badly advertised.
So after the show we were about to go and retrieve the car from The Ritz (aka a grotty NCP car park) when hubs decided to have a wander back into the foyer - he'd bought a programme and bright yellow TShirt before the show, and the girl had said if he came back later he might be able to swipe a poster. There was a queue of people there. 'Ello,' said he, 'what's all this?'
Yep, they were going to do signings! We weren't waiting for them long, Tim & Gray snuck out and sat down and we got to talk to them - whee! They signed our programmes (we should have brought our Jumble Sale Bought 1975 Annual after all - ho well.) Tim was being very charming - asked our names for the autograph and wished us 'Goody Wishes', and sweetly announced we were too young to be fans when we thanked them both for a lifetime of joy. Dr G was a bit quieter, but ALL of the Laydeez were flocking to him, asking for hugs and kisses, so I thought 'fuck it', and asked him for one too. He was very warm. Hubs has the hug on record on his camera phone. I look fat and not at all pregnant and extatic, Dr G looks slightly worried. Ah well!
