Boiler Fun
Nov. 3rd, 2006 10:05 amThe plumber did come yesterday - am impressed with new landlady, old landlady it would have taken around a week for him to so much as come round. However, he needs a new part for the boiler which he needs to order so it won't be fixed til Monday.
And we have Kev & Ian coming over this weekend.
Brrr!
No writing for a bit, since our 'keeping warm' strategy mainly boils down to:
1, put blow heater in one room
2, close door
3, both remain in said room for as long as possible
Which means muchos time on the sofa in various woolly jumpers and early nights since the bed is always nice and warm due to hubby's uncanny bed-warming abilities. 'Bathing' is 'fun' - put blow heater and kettle in bathroom on extension lead, boil kettle full of water, in meantime stand over bathtub and wash hair in freezing shower water, then use 1/2 of kettle water to make sinkful of warm water for strip wash, wet, soap and rinse as much as can with sink water, then use rest of kettle water to make up a jug of clean rinsing water, stand in bath, rinse. About a million times less appealing to do on getting out of bed than a nice hot shower, but it does the trick, just about.
A pity then that all I have a hankering for now is a nice hot bath :(
