Went to see Mitchell & Webb last night - very much enjoyed, although I enjoyed the stuff they hadn't done on TV more (My favourites were the Sky Four Trailer, The Mime and The Animal Charity Adverts... I liked the angry, homocidal husband too) It was good that the sketches that they *had* done on telly were done differently... I really liked the new ending to the Nazis Sketch.

According to my Contact at the theatre 'it's a good job I liked them, they brought a truck and two tour buses and their rider changed 6 times before the night'. There was an older couple (50s) in the pub afterwards who obviously hadn't been aware of what they were buying tickets for... they were left utterly flummoxed by the whole thing apparently and thought it was 'just not their generation's sense of humour' which I thought was very strange since
a, I've found M&W to be a more old fashioned, broader style of comedy than a lot of other popular acts at present - admitedly it assumes that its audience has a certain amount of intelligence but that's not an age thing. I really can't conceive of it being inacessable to an older audience. They complained that it was nonsensical and had no continuity - not like The Goons, then! The Goons, after all, is utterly mad and from my grandparents' generation but I can still appreciate it - often it's simply a case of accepting that the cultural references aren't aimed directly at you.
b, Godammit, they've only just finished a run of TV Shows on Primetime BBC2! How could you book tickets not knowing what you were going to see when it was ON TELLY AT THE TIME? The show was sold out really fast, so I'm sure there would have been fans who would have loved to have bought their seats instead. Tchuh!

Went to my breastfeeding workshop today, it was really, really useful. Found out loads of stuff that I didn't know - different ways of positioning Baby, what you can and can't eat/drink (apparently it's almost all the former - seems just as long as you don't smoke, go easy with alcohol and caffeine and learn from experience if certain foods make baby poorly that's fine), useful gizmos, feeding patterns to expect, suport groups etc etc.
Midwife scared me by describing the day (usually about Day 3 of motherhood) when the colostrum turns to milk and your baby feeds ABOUT ONCE AN HOUR.
Once an hour. For about a day and a night. When you're still knackered from childbirth and the hormones are really kicking in.

Sweet mercy, what have I let myself in for?
