Cold chicken and mayonaisse
Dec. 26th, 2006 01:32 pmHello, happy Boxing Day, everybody. I have awoken with a headache, which I'm not sure is down to too much rich food yesterday or having contracted Hubby's semi-cold.
Yesterday was another of our usual just-the-two-of-us Christmasses - a tradition which will obviously be altered considerably next year! Woke up at a very genteel 9.30 for prezzies in our jim-jams - despite the GD I did ask for *a* festive choccy - chocolate orange or Toblerone - since Chrimble isn't Chrimble without it. Hubs of course bought me the biggest Toblerone imaginable. I managed 4 triangles yesterday without making my blood sugar rocket *too* much, shall munch on the rest slowly over the rest of the Holidays! Also got all of Green Wing on DVD (woot!) PotCII, Howl's Moving Castle & My Neighbour Totoro, The Little Mermaid, some very fun books including the QI Book of General Ignorance, a pretty casserole stand, some Nursing Tops off Mummy and a really silly fluffy scarf/snood thing that I kept playing with last night until it moulted everywhere.
Cooked chicken dinner which we ate to the ISIHAC Christmas Special, then a walk, once Hubs had had his shower and got dressed (which he didn't do until 3 - he's been too busy playing Lego Star Wars II what I got for his present - I think he liked it!) Christmas Day in Canters is always crazy - it's the only day that you can walk around in broad daylight and find the place completely deserted... well it wasn't that deserted today, since we usually have our walk while the potatoes are roasting and due to Hubs' lack of trousers at that point we ended up going out after lunch, when there were a few others 'walking it off'. There was also a large crowd of Chinese people wandering around - possible hostile takeover bid? Wait until we're all too full and dozy to fight off the peril of East Asian Communism?
Cold chicken sarnies over Doctor Que, which I enjoyed. I do wish Catherine Tate would not be so... Catherine Tate, though. I know she's capable of more subtelty from Big Train.
Anyway... ( Read more... )
More cold chicken & stuffing butties (nums!) and then another walk today, methinks. Mum's having the whole of the Mafia over to hers tonight for Grampy's traditional Boxing Day Bash, which he can't really cope with hosting himself any more. Even DaisyMoo the spacky guinea-pig's going. Must admit I'm a little jealous about it - I wish I was there too. Not that I'm in any condition to travel anywhere right now, but it's the *whole* of my family and then some, sans yours truly. Maybe next year. Having the In-Laws round tomorrow, which should be fun.
Oh yes, and RIP James Brown. He ain't gonna get up, get on up anymore.
