SURPRISE!!!
Jan. 6th, 2008 12:36 pmI had a surprise party yesterday! Nath woke me up just before 9 yesterday and announced that he was taking me out for the day, that his mum was coming round to take over from mine in babysitting duties at lunchtime. So as we walked over to the coach station I thought we were just going to a museum and/or show or something... we ended up catching the tube towards Covent Garden though, the usual London party meeting place. And when we stepped out of the lift, my friends were there! Fantastic!
So...
Henry's in Covent Garden for lots of really tasty picky lunch and a smoothie courtesy of Dannymonkey (who is engaged to his Zimbabwean lady fair, and has to get his prospective Mother In Law a cow by means of a dowry!)
A brief amble around the National Portrait Gallery. I'd wanted initially to see the Pop Art Exhibition, but it was £9 each to get in, which I didn't think was fair to ask everyone to shell out for, so we just pootled around the 1990-present section for a bit.
Hubs got us all into Bafta for some drinkies in their bar. We were the only ones there and felt terribly exclusive. It was like being in a Gentleman's Club!
Chinese dinner in Chinatown no less. I ordered too much squid. We were accosted by a parade of Hare Krishnas afterwards.
Walked back into Leicester Square, where the Christmas Fairground was still in session. After much persuading got Big Ade (who had been running on Ade Time and so had arrived 2 and 1/2 hours late) to go on the Waltzer's with me. It was WICKED! I love the Waltzers, it had me squealing with laughter. Great fun. Then Hubs, Anna & Russ had a play on the Dodgems.
Then we retired to a little pub with an upstairs bit, and since we were in Theatreland while the theatres were in session we were able to sit at a table and drink, remanisce and talk a load of old wank until it was time to go back to the coach station and go home. A jolly good time.
Hooray.
