Been a bit of a non-day today, really, which is unfortunate considering it's been a sunny Saturday. Thanks to Hubs was given a lie-in (even though he was up til past 1am playing Civ IV, silly Daddy!) and woke up with a bit of a headache (thanks to my consumption of cider last night - silly Mummy!)
Then came the trouble with Violet.
She has a cold, which, I hope, goes towards explaining why she's been in a bad mood for the last few days. She's very snotty at the moment and, unfortunately, completely failed to nap in her bed today despite looking knackered and asking for her bed every time we got her out of it. We gave up after over two hours of trying, although she did get a pitiful half hour's shut-eye in her buggy when I took her to the shops. When she woke up from that she threw a full-on Toddler Tantrum, complete with toy-flinging, slapping, kicking and throwing herself on the floor. we did have a very pleasant hour or so after that all sitting on the sofa together watching The Simpsons, which is always nice when you're poorly. She was exhausted by storytime and asked to go to bed pretty much as soon as she was in her sleeping bag. I have heard some whingeing just now... I really, really hope she sleeps well tonight, bless her heart. We've given her Calpol and Vapour Rub, I don't think there's anything else we can do for her.
This stage of her cold has made her quite clingy (which isn't great) and very affectionate (which is wonderful). I've been given so many kisses today. I don't care that they taste of snot and will almost definitely give me her germs!
Of course, when I'm posting again in three day's time that I'm full of phlegm and have never been so miserable before in all my days, it will be a different story...
