*Blinks*
What?
*Blinks again, tries to shake brain back into place*
I'm sorry - WHAT?!?!?
That was just insane! the ending especially. And it pissed me off! It pissed me off because I share with Sideshow Ben and John 'Button Masher' Locke an overwhelming need for them to STAY ON THE DAMN ISLAND! They're only halfway through the rabbit hole (to extend the 'Alice' reference) - they can't leave yet! What are the possible ways forward with this narrative now?
1, Continue from the end of the 'flashforward', with the assumption that they got off the island mere hours after Jack's Satellite Phone call and then - what - they all get back together again and find the island a second time or fight the Hanso Foundation from civilisation? - CRAP.
2, Continue from Jack making the call, only it takes another 3 series for them to get off the island, we just know that it will end like this? - CRAP.
3, Continue with Jack deciding to end the call quickly, and they don't get found, making that whole flashforward the alternate ending that would happen if they left the island before they understood it. - BETTER.
4, Continue from the flashforward, only Jack finds a way of Doing A Desmond, reliving that episode, changing things - hopefully saving Charlie's life too. Perhaps when Charlie and Des literally go Through The Looking Glass they are creating a point where one timeline/dimension becomes two - A BIT MAD, BUT THIS IS MY FAVOURITE!
Other stuff about the episode...
- Didn't you just know that from his line 'so much for fate' that Charlie was a gonner? *Blub* If he is truly dead, then I will very much miss him.
- It appears Mikhail can't die. I reckon he lied to Ben about the fence, it really was on the top setting.
- Pah! Locke came back way too early, and then was rubbish.
- Walt, though! I cheered.
- I also cheered at Hurley's A Team Moment. Go, man, go!
- But I knew the three marksmen weren't dead. Never trust anyone to be dead unless you see them die.
- Sayeed can kill a man with only his ankles. He is so hot.
- Alex and Russeau reunited... awww. I know that kind of gives that story closure, but I still hope we see more of them.
So, Hmmm. Much like the end episode of BSG S3, I'm not so much on tenderhooks as to what will happen next as curious to see what the Hell the writers are playing at.
