You can't pick your family...
Nov. 23rd, 2005 11:49 pmAs I understand it, I do believe that it's Thanksgiving today/tomorrow/sometime soon, so giving a big 'Woo! C'mon!' to my American friends, who have nice chicken but sometimes get chased by naughty hurricanes. Have a good one, people. Eat, drink & be merry.
As for me, tootling off to Bristow on the morrow for Baby Sis' graduation & Mummy's BDay. A bit tentative, due to ongoing Family Politics (ah, the joys of being able to see both sides of the argument and thusly Always Taking The Wrong Side in the interest of Devil's Advocacy...) but it *should* be OK. 'Twill be the first time I've been with sis in Mum's house since the first tentative steps were made towards reconciliation, and I've since discovered that things still aren't as Cool as they've been reported to be. Plus I always get told off for
a, Not visiting ALL THE TIME (rest of family all live within 30 mins drive radius nowadays, so always meet up for every occasion... luckily I have a 4 hour drive to get there as an excuse, but I'd hate living like that anyway...)
b, not hating Mum's BF, even though she left Dad for him. You see, I've distanced myself from it, and see it as Just Another Divorce, rather than The End Of The World. Maybe it's because I was at Uni for the worst of it, maybe it was my coping mechanism. Unfortunately, both me & sis go with our gut reactions, and mine's very different from hers.
Should be OK.
*sigh*
Anyhoo, a bit more scribbling tonight, since I won't be able to til Sunday at the least... Having So much fun with O Most Wonderful right now...
