Fun on the M4
Nov. 27th, 2005 04:38 pmBack from a lovely extended weekend in Bristow/Wales. Didn't get berated at all except (mildly) by Harry last night, and I still honestly don't know how the Hell he suddenly became so attatched to the Catholic Mafia that is my Mum's family that he, his wife and any weird offspring they have loitering around now come to absolutely every family event. I know they're not related to me, but I'm not sure where they sprang from, or why they can't get their own damn family. His Missis is OK, but he gives me the creeps. Always hugs & kisses me and gives me the 'why don't you visit more often?' talk. Well, I'll accept that from my Sis, my Mum or (when I'm in a good mood) my Gramps alone. Even get annoyed when given That Talk by close relatives, so it doesn't go down well when given by a Hanger On.
Anyhoo - two days with Sis, met Daisy Moo the Mental Guinea Pig (won't shut up, ever, can never make up her mind whether to lick or bite you, goes for crazy runs around the living room, eats the PS2, drinks tea out of your mug if you leave it on the floor and has the biggest, flappiest ears, even though she's only a baby) saw Chloe, who's learning new words all the time and is terribly cute. Everything/one is 'naughty' right now. You're going to have to imagine a three year old girl with a broad Cardiff accent -
Me: How was your Swimming?
Ad: OK. A bit cold.
Me: Was the pool cold, Chloe?
Chloe: Yeah. It was naughty.
Bless. She calls Sis 'Didi', so as her big sister I was described (by Ad) as 'Big Didi'.
Sis' graduation was pretty cool, in Bristol's Cathederal (nice, if a bit cold) and reasonably short (hooray!). Then went to Zero Degrees, which I recommend anyone do if they ever find themselves in Bristol. They've got their own micro brewery and they do yummy pizzas, and it's still really cheap!

Also I throughly recommend Shake King, which we swung by yesterday.

They've got shops a bit like these in Southampton - so yummy! Yetserday I had a Wagon Wheel Shake, and next time I shall be either having Parma Violets or Jaffa Cakes. One slightly dodgy flavour - Marmite. Even I, the coinesseur of all weird grub, cannot be convinced on that one.
Then over the bridge to Mummy's party. Nice (if a bit weird) to see Sis & Mum's BF in the same room together. I know they're both really trying at this for Mum's sake. And back now for lots of exciting laundry. Woo.
And New Job starts tomorrow. Tres Nervous.
