What did you do in 2008 that you'd never done before?
Shouted about anal sex in Pizza Hut, paid 20p to have a wee in the Victoria Coach Station (I usually manage to hold it til the coach leaves at least), attended a Mums & Toddlers Group as a Mum, wrote Star Trek fanfic.

2. Did you keep your New Years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
Kept two (send The Specials off to the Beeb; get Baby Number 2 under way), failed on the other two (get a literary agent, or at least send off to get one; write an original novel)

3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
My friends Ian & Sadie had a little boy in the summer.

4. Did anyone close to you die?
My Great Aunt.

5. What countries did you visit?
Didnae leave the country this year. Unless you count Wales. Which I don't.

6. What would you like to have in 2009 that you lacked in 2008?
Another baby! An agent and a new script. Pull your bloody finger out, Scribsy!

7. What date from 2008 will be etched on your memory and why?
None in particular. I had some larks but nothing life-shattering.

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Getting really far with The Specials. I win by losing. That and the continued progress of me Vi-vi and successfully becoming impregnated with Numero Duo.

9. What was your biggest failure?
Not sending off for an agent. And now the schedules are packed with spooky-woo demons-and-exorcists shows. I think I've missed that window.

10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
Nope. Apart from the occasional cold and a horrible 24 hour tummy bug.

11. What was the best thing you bought?
I'm not sure that I bought anything particularly exciting this year. It's all been toddler clothes and groceries. I bought this cardigan that I'm wearing now. It's quite nice.

12. Whose behavior merited celebration?
Hubs and Violet for being the loveliest little family a gal could wish for. Them Yanks for voting for the better man in spite of his silly name, and also for managing so far not to assassinate him. Us Brits for winning lots of Shiny Olympic gongs. Charlie Brooker, just for being awesome and entertaining me while speaking Ye Truthe. That man who threw shoes at the apocalyptic chimpanzee of doom.

13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
Bush, Palin, Gordon (is a moron), Cameron (is a pie-faced cunt), everyone who voted in BoJo, Il Papa, Mugabe, the right-wing press who whipped up the idiotic Sachsgate 'scandal' into an almighty Witchunt while more important things (like, um, massive humanitarian crisies in Africa) were going on, and then just the usual hateful Bigots who piss me off on a daily basis.

14. Where did most of your money go?
Rent, bills, groceries.

15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
Centre Parks. I know. I'm sad.

16. What song(s) will always remind you of 2008?
The theme tune to Postman Pat, over and over and over and over....

17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
i. Same.
ii. thinner or fatter? Fatter, but then I'm preggles so I'm allowed@
iii. richer or poorer? A tiny bit richer.

18. What do you wish you'd done more of?
I have no regrets :) Most of my time was spent chilling with Vi, most of my breaks were spent writing!

19. What do you wish you'd done less of?
Erm... procrastinating, I suppose.

20. How will you be spending/did you spend Christmas?
With my lovely Hubs and Daughter, at home.

22. Did you fall in love in 2008?
Remained gooeily in love.

23. How many one-night stands?
None!

24. What was your favorite TV program?
Erm... oh God... Very much enjoyed S4 of Lost, Screenwipe, S4.0 of BSG, the new Futurama episodes, my epic re-watch of TNG... all the usual stuff, really.

25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
No.

26. What was the best book you read?
War of the Worlds. It was a cracking yarn!

27. What was your greatest musical discovery?
I think Flight of the Conchords was this year.

28. What did you want and get?
To get pregnant again.

29. What did you want and not get?
My very own radio dramedy serial :(. I only wanted it to get on BBC7 - is that so much to ask?!?

30. What was your favorite film of this year?
Wall-E. Closely followed by Frost Nixon.

31. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
Hubs took me on a surprise outing to Smokey which turned out to be a surprise get-together with lots of my mates :D Drank rather a lot, ate Chinese, went on the Waltzers with Ade. I was 28.

32. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
Getting a go-ahead from the Beeb. I'm sounding like a stuck record here.

33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2008?
Cheery ageing Indie-kid meets Slummy-Mummy meets Lynda Day (in the cardigan department, anyway)

34. What kept you sane?
Hubs, writing, morning toddler groups, the intarwebbez.

35. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
My crush on Alessandro "Gaeta" Juliani is getting a bit daft nowadays. Obviously, I still wouldn't boot La Reynolds out of bed for farting even if he's getting on a bit, and Dr G still has the sexiest voice in Christendom.

36. What political issue stirred you the most?
The US Election made me hopeful, the Zimbabwe problems made me furious. WHY aren't we doing anything!?!?

37. Who did you miss?
My chums, who I don't get to see as much as I'd like.

38. Who was the best new person you met?
Yasmeen, Sue and PIC at the PG Geek Up made me laugh like a bloody drain all afternoon.

39. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2008:
Just because a toddler *can* walk all the way to the clinic doesn't mean that she *will*. In other words, take a pushchair or your arms will get tired.

40. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year.
'The free markets are perfectly natural... do you think that I'm some kinda dummy?
It's the deal way to order the world - fuck the morals, does it make any money?
If you don't like it, then leave,
Or use your rights to protest on the streets,
Yeah, use your rights, but don't imagine that it's heard, oh no-no-no,
Cunts are still running the world!'
- Jarvis Cocker.
