On Sherlock...
God, I enjoyed that. Not completely flawless, but really fucking close. The 5 minutes of dreary shouty melodrama that was Eastenders' 'big emotional episode' I caught before it only made me appreciate some decent bloody telly all the more.
So much headcanon stroking! Everything with Sherlock being petulant or silly was so 'my' Sherlock to me. He even eats when annoyed & smokes when upset. All right, Irene wasn't 'my' Irene (she was very, very fond of dinner, though) but it was great to see her perplexing him, discombobulating him & getting under his skin.
My only quibbles were that Irene didn't win & saunter off to do her own thing in this version, and the rubbish password. Yes, she had Moriarty's help, but he's behind everything right from aSiP. And my Sherlock/Irene shippy heart needed that happy ending. I just hope that Irene later returned the favour & got him out of a tight spot, in the interest of equality. And I don't think Sherlock de-gayed her, or that she de-asexualised him. It felt like their interest in one anothers' minds overcame their usual sexual interests, and threw them both a bit.
No Sarah though! *weeps* Tell me she comes back! I want her to be the BBC Adaptation's version of Mary. She's fierce.
Also - the dream sequence was a particular fave. Was Sherlock being filmed backwards? Looked like it. (A Boomerang, though? Seriously?)
And Christmas! Who'd have thought Sherlock would do Christmas? The bit with Molly only made me ship Molly/Martin harder (Benny tweeted from Louise's account straight after aSiP aired. It made me picture Molly & Martin curling up to watch Sherlock together. It made me very happy). And at least Sherlock apologised! I also love that Sherlock invited Lestrade round for Christmas. And John's jumper! Good Lord!
I do have more to add, I just can't think of my other points right now. Expect more flailing later.
